A note about Insurance
While at first, it may seem like utilizing insurance for mental health services can reduce the financial barrier to care, in my experience as both a therapist and a client this is not always the case and can actually result in much higher emotional and financial costs later. In many situations, instead of being a useful tool to help increase access to ongoing, consistent, and essential mental health services, insurance can create barriers that unpredictably add to financial costs and reduce your decision-making power about your own mental health treatment.
Along with insurance requiring access to aspects of your confidential mental health records, these barriers may include denying coverage based on diagnosis and severity of a condition, limiting the amount of sessions, session frequency, and type of therapy you can receive within coverage, limiting modifications and adjustments in your treatment to best suit you and your changing needs over time, and significantly increase distress around finances and ongoing access to established care if claims are denied or previous claim approvals are overturned.
My goal here at Endeavor Therapy is to reduce barriers to treatment in as many ways as I am able within legal and ethical guidelines. Through flexible scheduling, in-person and telehealth sessions, varying session lengths, and a needs-based sliding fee scale everything about your therapy here is about you, your personal goals, and your clinical needs. The purpose of all of these measures is to ensure you have as much agency as possible in the collaboration and development of your flexible treatment plan tailored specifically for you.
Why I do not to accept insurance and have chosen not to panel with any insurance companies
